Delhi - the rape capital of india

If you read the title of this post you will feel it as cliche, just because the word capital is suffixed to the word rape; anyone can come up with such a title. But as i write this amidst news of the 24 year old medical student gangraped in a moving bus in delhi fighting for her life; it saddens me. India, once boasted of its respect for women in the vedas, in the puranas; known for goddesses who are worshipped, yet late at night the very gender is molested, raped by men, who have lost all sense of morality.

Why is this happening in India?
What is happening to the law and order of the country?
Has women become just tools of pleasure to be brutally used by the stronger sex?

There are also other theories popping up saying, why are girls travelling around late at night?
We live in a world where women have taken so much of greater responsibilities that she is working head to head with man in the corporate world and running India. Inc. So why shouldnt she work late nights to achieve her dreams?

But, i must say it is becoming increasingly difficult for women to have a sense of security in the metropolitan cities and something very drastic needs to be done about this.

Satyameva Jayate in the time of IPL Fever!!

Well, what inspired me to write this post is the incredible response that the TV Show of the Perfectionist himself has generated. We all know IPL has become a never-ending fever across India and for the 5th year in a row it has generated unimaginable revenues for the investors and some exciting cricket for the people of india.

At the same time, not affected by this is Aamir khan! He is embarking a mission to solve some of the most chronic social issues of the day rampant in India today. Issues like female child infanticide, child sexual abuse etc. But I have some questions to ask.
Is the response received by the show just because of the celebrity status of the superstar?
Do people really care about wiping these issues out from the roots?
Will this just be another Sunday Catharsis?
Will it make any difference to the people who watch the show comfortably ensconced in their cozy couches on a lazy Sunday morning?
An sms sent for the cause might just reduce the guilt of the people momentarily. But I must say that the job taken up by aamir is no small task and many journalists have taken this path and have failed.
What difference aamir makes through this show only time will tell. But ultimately he’s an entertainer and we can’t expect him to become a 24/7 social activist. Am I Right??

A world of new possibilities!

The world is full of new opportunities. As I march further in my twenties, there is this urge to prove myself, to let the world know who i am, to make a contribution to the world that it will remember for a long time to come. All this desperateness is good as long as we work on it. To feel insecure amidst more intelligent people is natural to human kind. Daniel Goleman writes in his book Emotional Intelligence that EQ is the thing to worry about in the the future and that it has a very major role to play in who will succeed in their lives, who has that emotional balance and the a head on the shoulders that will just be enough to fit them in this fast paced, techno savvy world of opportunities.

I do not know exactly what leaders are made of. And as i work in my office day in and day out, I have not come across a single person whom i can proudly point to and say 'thats the stuff leaders should be made of'. Although i do have come across people with qualities which if polished and developed can make them tremendous leaders.

Anyways thats for time and their hardwork to decide who will become what. Or is it?
